Biography
- Grew up in East Africa and Scotland, studied Computer Science at the University of York.
- Has lived in Belgium since 1984, working as a software architect, helping firms build large software applications.
- Started his company iMatix Corporation in 1998.
- His particular skills are to design very large software systems and to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Main works include the Xitami web server, and other iMatix software technology tools.
- In 2004-6, was principal architect of the new AMQP middleware standard and main developer of the OpenAMQ middleware server.
- In 2005, was elected president of the FFII, the association representing small-to-medium IT firms at the European level.
- In 2006, launched the CAPSoff campaign as an example of 'wikiturfing'; running a grassroots campaign using only free internet tools.
- In his copious free time he writes, plays guitar, spends time with his beautiful wife & daughter, and enjoys Brussels.
- Is a member of Mensa, Rotary International, and the FFII.
